East Wind Planned Itinerary
More details will be added as our plans are solidified.
Meals are prep’d and cooked by Brigade Members (per kitchen team assignments)x
We have 2 support vehicles and drivers to carry our kitchen, food and camping gear – leaving our boats lighter and easier to paddle.
Paddling distances are approximate – final distance will be dependent upon wind and waves.

Our proposed daily schedule is below

Sunday June 25thParticipants carpool to Hudson Quebec
to arrive between 4:30 – 5:00

2:30 PM at the RACCC Boat Shed – Helen has organized a bus to take paddlers and gear to Hudson
Support Vehicles and Drivers – hope to be there at same time!
camp site: Hudson: Greenwoods Centre for Living History
evening program: exact timing TBD: potluck supper, historical tour, set up tents,
30 minute ‘first meeting’ (agenda for next day)

Monday June 26,
9:00 AM :  Canoe Launch
Jack Layton Park (Municipal boat launch), Hudson Quebec
canoes arrive, all hands to help unload and launch.
Send off by Hudson folks… we paddle back to Greenwoods for media pictures and interviews
Paddling distance: approx. 20 Kms
Lunch Stop: along the route as necessary.
Lock through the Carrillon Locks
Camp site: Camping Municipal Parc de Carillon, 3 rue du Plein Air
St-Andre d’Argenteuil (picnic tables, showers and right by the water)
about 1 km past the locks
(North shore of the Ottawa River)

Tuesday June 27: approx. 20 Kms
Lunch stop: Hawksbury – historical site
Camp site: L’Orignal (by Municipal beach)  (South shore of the Ottawa River)

Wednesday June 28: approx. 20 Kms
Lunch stop: along the route
Camp site: Montebello (at the beach just below Auberge Montebello)
(North shore of the Ottawa River)

Thursday June 29: approx. 20 Kms
Lunch stop: along the route
Camp site: Plaisance Park (North shore of the Ottawa River)

Friday June 30: Approx 45 Kms
Lunch Stop: along the route
Camp site: Grace Church, Cumberland (Shuttle provided!)
Canoes secured at the marina near Petrie Island  (North shore of the Ottawa River)

Saturday July 1st:    approx 25 kms
Lunch stop: at RACCC member, Dagmar’s house on the Ottawa, about 3 km from Asinabka (Victoria Island)
3:00 PM Gathering of all the Brigades and end of journey Celebration-Ceremony behind Parliament Hill.

Evening plans:
Dagmar’s, carpool pick up for paddlers.
Walk along the riverwalk to see fireworks!

Sunday July 2nd – for those available…
9:30 AM – load the canoes on the trailers!

Proposed Daily Schedule
NOTE: we may paddle quicker than we thought possible through the route.
We may have more time to land, visit people and communities, take longer breaks…
we will see how it goes!

7:00 rise, pack personal gear and tents, load into support vehicles.
7:45 Breakfast served, kitchen cleanup, Lunch preparation
Final gear packing by paddlers
8:30 Prepare the Canoes for launch
9:00 departure (earlier if possible)
10:30 ish bio break
Noon ish – Lunch
1:00 – paddle on
2:30 ish and 4:00 ish – bio break
5:00 ish – arrive at our camp site (earlier would be nice!)
set up our tents, secure the canoes (all gear out of the canoes),
supper teams prep supper
6:30 ish – supper
7:30 ish – evening fun
